My sweet baby boy is turning 6! Through the years with Cohen

Dear Cohen,
Wow....I can't believe you are turning 6! It seems like just yesterday you were born. I don't know what dad and I ever did before you were born. You are everything I have ever dreamed of and more than I could ever deserve. The years and the milestones seem to go by faster and faster every year. This year alone you have lost your first tooth, started school, and learned to read, just to name a few.
As I started looking through pictures today I found myself crying because my little boy is not a baby anymore.

I remember when you were first born, dad and I were so careful with you. We thought you would break if we didn't hold you every second of every day, or if you so much as whimpered, we had to pick you up.

As you turned 2, your favorite thing was your paci or "papi" as you called it, but you gave it up quickly after Taegan was born. You didn't want to be a baby after she was born and you shined as a big brother.

Your terrible two's ran into the 3's and 4's but we wouldn't have it any other way because your curiousness and independance is what makes you you.

At five you were already goin on 15 to hear you talk. You were so excited to start kindergarten so you could be a big boy. You love hanging out with dad at school.

Now, turning 6, you are still curious and ask a million questions. You are so smart that it gets you in trouble sometimes, you love to be tickled, and you love to play with the "big boys" at church. You are protective of your sister and won't let anyone hurt her (except you), you like to play macho, but you still like to sleep with me and dad. You tell me you love me at least 5 times a day and tell me you hate me at least once a day. You make your sister cry several times a day, but you like to give hugs and kisses as much as you like to fight. You love to play wii, and your favorite thing at night is for me to read you bible stories and for me to sleep in your bed.

My sweet boy, I love you more than the oceans are deep and the universe is vast. I am so proud of the little man you are becoming. You are the son dad and I waited so long for and we are so blessed that God gave you to us. Everday is an adventure with you and I can't wait to see what the next year holds for you.

When you read this when your grown up I want to remember several things...All things are possible through God; always treat others how you want to be treated; you can't change some bad situations but you can always change how you react to them; being angry never changes the person you are mad at, it only consumes you; love with all your heart because you never know what tomorrow brings; and last but not least, when in doubt always pray, and call your mother everyday!

With love forever,
Your Mommy
